The One Book Interview comes of age today. It can now legally do those things that most teenagers have been doing for years anyway.
To celebrate its 18th birthday, here’s a look back through the last few months – words seen through numbers.
We’ve had:
17 interviews, of which 16 are authors and 1 is an editor;
7 questions to each person;
a total of 126 different books mentioned (17 authors picking 1 book for 7 questions should be 119, so we’ve almost stuck to the premise of 1 book per answer).
Which books?
Classics, indies, short stories, epic fantasy series, and even a photographic book of sharecroppers in Alabama in the early-mid 20th century.
Some books have appeared more than once (I’ve excluded multiple mentions of people’s own books).
So, in reverse order, these are the top choices:
The Stand – 2x
A song of Ice and Fire – 2x
Death Becomes Her – 2x
Little Bee – 2x
Pride & Prejudice – 2x
Think & Grow Rich – 2x
The Name of the Wind – 2x
On Writing – 3x
To Kill a Mockingbird – 3x
The Martian – 3x
The Lord of the Rings – 4x
The Bible – 6x
The Bible actually has reviews on Amazon, which I find a little odd. Some of them are even one star. Guess they were left by non-believers or very brave believers?!
If you were to try and draw a conclusion from this list, it would be that the authors are a devout bunch with a penchant for epic fantasy and a healthy respect for Stephen King.
A huge thank you to all the authors that have taken part to date. It’s fascinating reading about the words behind the words.
